Erica Elderhorst
(SHE/HER)
REGISTERED MIDWIFE (RM) | LACTATION CONSULTANT (IBCLC)
Erica is a Registered Midwife (RM) and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with a passion for evidence-based and family-centered care. She completed the Midwifery Education Program at McMaster University in 2016 and later went on to earn her Master of Science in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University in 2020. In 2023, she became a Lactation Consultant (LC), deepening her commitment to supporting families through all aspects of infant feeding.
In 2020, she moved from Ontario to New Zealand where she worked in both rural and urban settings across a variety of midwifery roles. Her experience abroad gave her valuable insight into different approaches to maternity care and broadened her clinical perspective as a midwife. Now that she is back in Canada, she is beyond thrilled to be supporting families in this community.
In addition to clinical practice, Erica has been actively involved in research and quality improvement projects throughout her career. She is currently a Fellow at the McMaster Midwifery Research Centre and is passionate about using evidence to guide maternity care and improve outcomes for all families. She also has a special interest in infant feeding and enjoys helping families navigate complex feeding challenges.
Outside of work, Erica can often be found hiking, gardening, or experimenting in the kitchen. She is an avid traveler and is always dreaming about her next adventure!
